Taiwo Awoniyi to miss months of football due to injury confirms Steve Cooper

Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper has confirmed that the striker Taiwo Awoniyi will be out for “months” due to a groin injury, which he aggravated on international duty with Nigeria. The 26-year-old had undergone an operation on the groin, and regardless of his fitness issue, he scored four goals in 10 Premier League appearances this season.

FIFA’s Chief of Global Football Development, Arsene Wenger said that FIFA is not here to sell a dream but to ensure that the Indian football moved in the right direction in the next few years and reached its desired goal. He along with  AIFF President Kalyan Chaubey addressed the media after India's 0-3 loss to Qatar in FIFA World Cup Qualifiers 2026. Chaubey said,  “We feel honoured that FIFA considers our federation as one that has a huge potential for further development, and I welcome all to be a part of it." 

He added, "Let us all share knowledge, exchange ideas, and listen to what Mr. Wenger says. FIFA has not given us a magic button to develop football or qualify for the World Cup. Rather, they are here to guide and support us.”

Manchester United to do squad clearout to comply with FFP rules: Reports

Manchester United are reportedly planning to do a squad clearout, which will see more than 10 players leave the club, to comply with the Financial Fair Play rules of the Premier League. As per the report from Manchester Evening News, some of the players who could be on their way out, are Jadon Sancho, Scott McTominay, Victor Lindelof, Anthony Martial, Tom Heaton, Jonny Evans, Brandon Williams, and Alvaro Fernandez, among others.

Eintracht Frankfurt to sign Brighton midfielder Pascal Gross: Reports

Eintracht Frankfurt are reportedly interested in bringing the German midfielder Pascal Gross next summer, who plays club football for Brighton in the Premier League, according to Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg from Germany. Lakshya Sen, Kidambi Srikanth bow out of China Masters Super 750 with first-round defeat

Indian shuttlers in the likes of Lakshya Sen and Kidambi Srikanth bowed out of the China Masters Super 750 tournament and from the tournament.  Sen lost 21-19, 21-18 in a fierce battle against home favourite, world number 7, Shi Yu Qi, that lasted for more than 59 minutes.  Srikanth faced the reigning World Champion Kunlavut Vitidsarn and went down 15-21, 21-14, 13-21 in 62 minutes.

On the other hand,  Priyanshu Rajawat lost against Kenta Nishimoto  21-17, 21-14 in 46 minutes. Rutaparna Panda and Swetaparna Panda lost against 7th seeds Zhang Shu Xian and Zheng Yu of China 21-15, 21-9.

Fazel Atrachali to lead Gujarat Giants in Pro Kabaddi League Season 10

Pro Kabaddi League team Gujarat Giants announced  Fazel Atrachali as the captain for the side while Rohit Gulia is the vice-captain. The team is owned by the Adani Sportsline and is coached by the astute tactician and experienced coach Ram Mehar Singh.

Number of injuries with ball change has gone up in men's tennis: Novak Djokovic

Tennis champion Novak Djokovic agrees with the fact that the ball change has increased the number of injuries among the players. Djokovic said,  “There has been a lot of discussions on the effect of the different balls every week on the joints, the wrist, the shoulders and the elbows. Someone told me that in terms of injuries this year comparing to other years it drastically has gone up."

The Serbian added, “I absolutely agree there should be some discussion on that. I actually spoke about that with Andrea Gaudenzi, the ATP president, and Massimo, who is the CEO, in Paris. I shared my opinion and my views. Obviously, they are thinking about various different options and ways of how to regulate and how to make it better for the players and prevent injuries.”
