Indian ace badminton duo Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty defeated world champion duo of Seo Seung Jae and Kang Min Hyuk in the French Open 2024 semifinal to book a final date. In an intense and fierce battle, the Indians dominated most of the match and recorded a 21-13, 21-16 win. This will be their third French Open final, and third straight final to start 2024. Satwik and Chirag were coming on the back of a win against the Thai pair of Jomkoh Supak and Kittinupong Kedren in the quarterfinal of the Super 750 tournament.
PV Sindhu bows out of French Open Super 750 tournament
Indian women’s badminton pioneer PV Sindhu bowed out of the ongoing French Open 2024 at the quarterfinal stage in Paris. The two-time Olympic medalist lost the clash to Chen Yufei with a 24-22, 17-21, 18-21 in a thrilling 92-minute clash. This was Sindhu’s first BWF world tour event since her return from the knee injury. The encounter between Sindhu and Yufei took place at the badminton venue for Paris 2024.

World number 1 tennis player Novak Djokovic recorded his 400th career win in ATP Masters 1000 events and became the only second player after Rafael Nadal to achieve the feat. Djokovic recorded the feat as he registered an easy 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 win against Aleksandar Vukic in his first game at the Indian Wells Open 2024 on Saturday. This was his first game since his defeat in the semifinal of the Australia Open two months ago. Talking about Nadal’s record, the 22-time Grand Slam winner holds the record for most Masters 1000 wins.
Milos Raonic withdraws from BNP Paribas Open, Holger Rune advances to third round
Milos Raonic withdrew from the BNP Paribas Open due to a calf strain, which promoted Holger Rune to the third round of the ATP Masters 1000. Raonic defeated India’s Sumit Nagal 6-3, 6-3 in the first round but wasn’t able to take the court for his ATP head-to-head clash with Rune. Rune will either lock horns with 26th seed Lorenzo Musetti or Denis Shapovalov in the round of 32. This is Rune’s fourth appearance in Indian Wells, with his best result coming in 2023, where he reached the third round of the clash.

American YouTuber and streamer IShowSpeed claimed that he will meet French football star Kylian Mbappe this summer. Darren Watkins Jr., popularly known as Speed among fans, claimed his livestream, leaving his fans quite amazed with it. Speed mentioned that he will meet young football superstar Kylian Mbappe. Speed claimed after he was asked by a fan about his meeting with the PSG star. The 19-year-old replied to the fan, “When I’m gonna meet Mbappe? I will Mbappe this summer. So, do not worry.” Though Speed didn’t disclose any further details, the announcement was enough to make the fans happy.
Police arrest 205 Monchengladbach and Koln fans for violence outside Borussia Park
The Monchengladbach police in Germany have arrested 205 fans outside Borussia Park for violent clashes a night before the Rhine derby in the Bundesliga. Among the fans taken in custody, 131 are from FC Koln, while 74 are from Borussia Monchengladbach, and notably, three police officers got injured on duty, and one of them was unable to continue any further. The home side, Borussia Monchengladbach fans were outside the ground, preparing a choreography on the eve of their upcoming match in the Bundesliga. But, when the away fans from FC Koln saw them, from FC Koln saw them, violent clashes erupted between both sets of supporters outside the Borussia Park.
