After opening their UEFA Euro 2024 campaign on a high with a dominating 3-1 win over Hungary on Saturday, June 15, Switzerland played a 1-1 draw against Scotland to maintain second place in the Group A standings with four points in two matches. Murat Yakin's side came from a goal behind as star midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri scored a spectacular goal, making it the goal of the Euro 2024 contender. On Wednesday night, Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay scored the opener for Scotland against Switzerland in the 13th minute. In response, Xherdan Shaqiri fired a stunner from outside the box to score an equaliser in the 26th minute. Scotland defender Anthony Ralston's loose pass at the back found Shaqiri at the centre, who decided to strike first time.

Indian men’s football team dropped down further in FIFA’s latest rankings. As per the new rankings, India is now ranked 124 in the world rankings, three spots down from the last. India have been sliding down in the FIFA rankings since December last year. In 2023, they had broken into the top 100 with the best ranking of 99. In the Asian rankings, India are currently placed at the 22nd spot and is behind the likes of Lebanon, Palestine, and Vietnam.

Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies opened up on his transfer rumours and said that he is fully focused on Copa America and will talk about the future once the tournament is completed. Davies said, “I’m sorry, but I’m focused on my national team to go far in this Cup. I have all my energy here and when this tournament is over, we’ll see what happens.” Notably, Real Madrid are keen on signing Davies but are reportedly unwilling to pay more than 25-30 million euros.
