In the last 24 hours or so, one of the biggest news to have emerged in the world of sport was the hunger strike from the mother of Luis Rubiales, the President of Spanish FA, to support her disgraced son. In India, Mirabai Chanu, the Olympic silver medalist, decided to not attempt a lift at the World Weightlifting Championships 2023, but take part in the weigh-in, to compete at the Paris Olympics next year. The mother of the suspended Spanish FA President Luis Rubiales goes on hunger strike

After Luis Rubiales was suspended by FIFA from the role of the President of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), his mother Angeles Bejar went on a hunger strike to protest on his behalf. She locked herself inside the church of a Divine Shepherdess in the city of Motril, Spain, their family's home town, as confirmed by the cousin of the disgraced official. 

Luis Rubiales had received a provisional suspension of 90 days for kissing Jenni Hermoso, the FIFA Women’s World Cup winner from Spain on the lips a week or so ago.

HS Prannoy reaches career-high world number 6 ranking after bronze medal win at BWF World Championships 2023

With the bronze medal finish at the BWF World Championships 2023, after a massive win at the Malaysia Masters, HS Prannoy reached the career-high world number six ranking in men’s singles. During his campaign at the World Championships in Copenhagen, Denmark, the Indian shuttler defeated the world number one Viktor Axelsen in three games to secure a medal for India at the competition.

Then, in the semi-final, he won game one comfortably against Kunlavut Vitidsarn, before the Thai shuttler came storming back in the next two games to end his campaign in the BWF World Championships 2023 on a tough note.

Eden Hazard reportedly set to announce retirement aged 32 despite family’s motivation

When Eden Hazard became a free agent after a tough few seasons at Real Madrid, he was expected to sign for a new club to continue his footballing journey. But according to reports, he is set to announce his retirement at the age of 32 despite the family telling him to do otherwise.

The Olympic silver medalist Mirabai Chanu from India made a decision to not attempt a lift at the upcoming World Weightlifting Championships 2023, as a precautionary measure, on her road to recovery after hip surgery. But, she will be present in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to be a part of the weigh-in proceedings, to be able to compete at the Paris Olympics next year.

According to the rules of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF), a weightlifter has to mandatorily attend the weigh-ins at the World Weightlifting Championships, along with staying available for dope testing, to become eligible for the Olympics.

Two get stabbed in the 49ers - Raiders fan brawl after pre-season game

Following an NFL pre-season game, some San Francisco 49ers and Las Vegas Raiders fans got involved in a brawl at an In-N-Out Burger outlet. The incident happened after the Las Vegas Raiders beat the San Francisco 49ers by 23-12 at Levi’s Stadium, in Santa Clara, California, which caused two people to get stabbed, while the suspect ran away from the crime scene.

A report from KTVU, wherein a video of the incident was shared, had multiple people bleeding on the floor, while one man got beat up by three men on the ground at the In-N-Out Burger.
