Shreyas Iyer has been a consistent performer for his team in the middle order since 2020 in ODIs thus he is expected to be the first-choice player for India. KL Rahul since 2020, has also played a key role with the bat while batting at number 5 and 6 positions.
He scored 75* vs AUS in Wankhede (2023), 64* vs SL in Kolkata (2023), 73 vs BAN in Mirpur (2022) and many key innings like this at a lower position and he may don the role of playing as a wicket-keeper in the absence of Rishabh Pant.
