Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings will be up against Gujarat Titans, for the final summit of the Indian Premier League 2023 on May 28, Sunday. The clash, which will be a repeat of the season opener and Qualifier 1, is slated at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. As exciting as the final summit would be, the unpredictable nature of the weather might wash out the final battle.

The last battle at the Narendra Modi Stadium got affected by the rain, causing a delay of 30 minutes. If the same conditions persist, the last match of the IPL 2023 will potentially have an impact. There are 61 per cent chances of rain in the final game on Sunday evening in the city of Ahmedabad.

Scenario Explained:

  • The game can be delayed up to 12:26 am IST for a five-over-per-side battle.
  • Though there will be efforts to get the match done on May 28 itself, if it doesn’t happen, it will resume from where it was interrupted on May 29.
  • If the 5-over-clash isn’t also possible on Sunday, then the match will get a fresh start on Monday from the toss.
  •  If the downpour continues in Ahmedabad, the same procedure of a shortened game will be followed with 1:20 AM IST (May 30, Tuesday), with a latest super over decider.
  • However, if the game still remains to get affected by the rain, then Gujarat Titans will be declared as winners as they finished above the Chennai-based franchise in the league stage matches.

The four-time winners, CSK ended at the 10th spot in the last season and took a complete turnaround to be in the top two this year. On the other hand, Gujarat Titans, under the leadership of Hardik Pandya won their maiden IPL title in 2022 and made it to their second straight final.
