After winning the Olympic gold medal for the first time in his career with Team USA, Tyrese Haliburton had a quirky reaction to how it all went down in Paris in the last fortnight. The 24-year-old made a self-deprecating joke in a post on his official X account, talking about his lack of game time for Team USA on the court at Paris 2024, but still, he became an Olympic champion.
In the men’s basketball final at the Paris 2024, the USA defeated the hosts France 98-87 in a high-octane battle, to win an Olympic gold medal for the 17th time. Steph Curry was the star of the show for the Americans on the night, scoring a team-high 24 points with a few crucial three-pointers in the last few minutes of the contest.

With a stacked roster at the disposal of Steve Kerr, the coach of Team USA, Tyrese Haliburton could only get to play for just 26 minutes on the court during the men’s basketball event in the Paris Olympics 2024. After getting his hands on the gold medal, he sent out a post on X with his picture, and wrote, “When you ain’t do nun on the group project and still get an A,” trolling himself in the process, getting back at fans for unfairly criticising him in the last couple of weeks.
Tyrese Haliburton played for a few minutes against South Sudan and Puerto Rico in the group stage matches before taking the court for eight minutes versus Brazil in the quarter-final of the Paris Olympics 2024. As the second youngest player on the American roster in Paris, he got the fewest minutes among his teammates at the Olympic Games.
The three veterans of Team USA, LeBron James (39 minutes), Steph Curry (36 minutes), and Kevin Durant (35 minutes) got the most time on the court in Paris.
