Sheikh Jassim is a member of the Royal Qatari family and a chairman of Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB) which is one of the biggest banks in the Middle East. He is the son (one of the 15 children) of the former Qatar Prime Minister (2007-13) Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani. 

Sheikh Jassim has been involved in eight different businesses and he is also a prominent investor in London for many years. Sheikh Jassim graduated as an officer cadet after studying in the United Kingdom at Royal Military Academy. He has been life long supporter of the Manchester United club.

Sheikh Jassim was commissioned as 2nd lieutenant in the Qatari armed forces on Aug 1996. He is also an honorary president of the Qatar National Cancer Society (QNCS) since 1997. He is also chair of the supreme council for the Environment and natural resources since 2000.
