With the  IPL 2024  league stage coming to an end, the action will soon shift to the playoffs with either of SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) or the Rajasthan Royals (RR) playing the table-toppers in Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Qualifier 1. However, the final decision now depends on the result of the last league stage fixture, where the Rajasthan Royals are set to host the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.

The match which was scheduled to kickstart at 7:30 pm IST, got delayed due to rain. However, the showers stopped in the middle but were back soon to further delay the start. But with the battle to finish second in the points table still on, a lot rests on the result of the match between RR and KKR.

Who will play RCB in Eliminator if RR vs KKR is washed out?

Earlier in the day on Sunday, May 19, the SunRisers Hyderabad defeated Punjab Kings in their final league stage fixture of IPL 2024. While there was nothing to lose for the Jitesh Sharma-led side, the Hyderabad-based franchise had their eyes on the top two finish.

But with the Pat Cummins-led side sealing a comprehensive four-wicket win with five balls to spare, they moved to second place, replacing Rajasthan Royals (RR). However, their second place finish was yet to be confirmed with the Royals playing the Kolkata Knight Riders later in the day. However, with rain coming into play, the match saw a delay.

Here in such a case, if the final league stage match gets washed out, the Royals will finish at the third place and thus play the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the Eliminator. On the other hand, the Hyderabad-based outfit will feature in the Qualifier 1 against Kolkata Knight Riders on Tuesday, May 21.
