Italian star Fabio Fognini is set to face a ban from tennis after missing a doping test as he chose to attend the Champions League final between Manchester City and Inter Milan earlier this month. The 36-year-old has played in the Championships 13 teams without winning a single title. Whereas Fognini won the Australian Open men’s doubles alongside Simone Bolelli in 2015.
The now 130th-ranked star’s best Slam run came at the 2011 French Open when he reached the quarter-finals before he withdrew from his clash against Novak Djokovic due to a leg injury. But now the Italian finds himself in trouble with the tennis authorities as this is the second time he has missed a test as per the Sportmediaset. So now if ATP decided to take serious action against Fabio Fognini, the 36-year-old could miss the upcoming Wimbledon which is set to kick off on July 3.
Going back to the Champions League Final, Man City created history and won their first UCL title which was a disappointment for the Sanremo-born tennis star as he has been a life-long Inter Milan. Talking about his love for the Nerrazurri, Fabio Fognini said, "My family is full of Inter fans.”
“Inter for me means passion. I grew up watching the likes of Ronaldo and Christian Vieri but my idol was Ivan Zamorano. I always like Marco Materazzi too due to his determination. As a fan of Inter, I rejoice and I get angry. When you care about one thing those are the reactions, but being a sportsman I also understand what’s behind it and the variables that can lead to one result over another."
