Chennai Super Kings is undoubtedly one of the most beloved IPL franchises in the country, with a very huge fanbase. CSK have won 4 titles in the tournament (in 2010, 2011, 2018, and 2021) and have formed a solid squad for the upcoming season, where they will come out all guns blazing in pursuit of defending their crown. However, not is all well with the fans following the mega auction.

There was already a lot of disappointment among everyone when the franchise decided to not buy Suresh Raina, popularly known as Chinna Thala. The Yellow Army were clearly frustrated with the team management as they even went on to claim that they won't support them in IPL 2022.

And now #Boycott_ChennaiSuperKings is trending on Twitter but it's not because of Raina. Instead, it's actually a political one related to one of the signings franchise made during the IPL 2022 mega auction. Sri Lanka's mystery spinner Maheesh Theekshana was bought by CSK for Rs 70 lakhs. However, it has not gone down well with the CSK fanbase.

But what is the reason behind the same? Actually, Theekshana is a Sinhalese. Notably, the Sinhalese soldiers have been accused of killing Tamil fisherman in past. Naturally, there has been a lot of political tension between Tamilians and Sinhalese, which is one of the main reasons why CSK fans from Tamil Nadu are voicing their disappointment on the same.

Some of the people even went on to point out that if because of politics India don't allow Pakistani players to play in the Indian Premier League, then why can't Sinhalese players be banned?
