Soon after Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) clinched their maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) title, beating top-placed Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the summit clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, there have been buzz since then amidst the ongoing trade window. While there have been talks surrounding the Rajasthan Royals (RR) skipper Sanju Samson, former India all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin was also in news after reports claimed that he wants to leave the five-time champions, Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
However, nothing has been confirmed so far, in a recent event in Mumbai, star Bollywood celebrity Salman Khan confirmed of getting an offer to buy an IPL franchise. Reckoned as one of the most successful franchise leagues in the world, IPL began in the year 2008 with eight. While two more teams were added later on, they were nullified later on with the tournament heading back to an eight-team tournament. Ahead of IPL 2022, two more teams were added to make it a 10-team event.

While it currently boasts of ten franchise teams, Salman Khan recently made a big revelation. The B-town celebrity confirmed of being offered one team in the initial years, but also shared his plans of owning one now. He first began with a hilarious take, responding, “IPL ke liye too old ho gaye hum (I am too old to buy an IPL team now).”

“IPL offer hua tha us waqt, liya nahi (The IPL offer was made earlier, but I didn’t accept it at that time). Aisa nahi hai ki pachta rahe hai hum. Khush hi hain hum (It is not like I have any regrets, I am happy only),” Salman Khan further added. Shah Rukh Khan, Juhi Chawla, along with Preity Zinta have been popular team owners in the IPL. While Shah Rukh and Juhi Chawla are co-owners of three-time winners Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Preity Zinta is a co-owner of Punajb Kings (PBKS).
