Team India finally got a breakthrough with the start of Day 2 of the ongoing third Test against England. However, things did not fall perfectly in shape for the Men in Blue. With a few crucial wickets of the England cricketers, the home side are leading by 345 runs with two wickets in hand.

Along with this, there was something like a controversy which took place during the day’s play. But this time it wasn’t between Indian & England players. India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant and skipper Virat Kohli were seen having a discussion with the on-field umpires.

Rishabh Pant asked to remove tapes from gloves

Before the start of the third & final session of the day, the match officials Alex Wharf & Richard Kettlebourgh asked Pant to remove the taping from his gloves. This occurred after Pant claimed the catch of Dawid Malan on the last ball of second session.

This unwanted controversy took place after Rishabh Pant was spotted with his fourth & fifth fingers taped on the gloves. According to the Law 27.2.1, taping is only allowed between index finger and thumb.

“If, as permitted under 27.1, the wicketkeeper wears gloves, they shall have no webbing between the fingers except joining index finger and thumb, where webbing may be inserted as a means of support,” the law states.

Meanwhile Dawid Malan and openers Rory Burns and Haseeb Hameed registered half-centuries, Joe Root registered another century - his sixth this year to take England’s lead past 300.
