A day after KL Rahul tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of the West Indies tour, Team India suffered yet another blow in the form of experienced all-rounder who might miss the entire ODI series. As per latest development, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has sustained a niggle on his knee and is likely to miss out the series opener on Friday (22nd July) at Queen's Park Oval stadium in Trinidad.

On the eve of first ODI, Indian skipper Shikhar Dhawan confirmed the development and informed reporters that Jadeja has suffered a niggle on his knee and medical team is examining his situation. While Ravindra Jadeja's injury might keep him away from the series opener, his availability for remaining of ODI matches will depend on the extent of the seriousness of his injury.

As reported by Cricbuzz, the 33-year-old might be out of the ODI leg of the tour and will return for the T20I leg. "The decision will depend on the precaution to prevent aggravating his ailment, which is reportedly left his knee," source close to BCCI told Cricbuzz.

Earlier, Indian batter KL Rahul, who is rehabilitating at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru following a groin surgery in Germany last month, tested positive for Covid-19. The news was confirmed by the BCCI President Sourav Ganguly after an Apex Council Meeting in Mumbai. Seeing this, KL Rahul's participation in the T20I series is unlikely as the series will kick start from July 29.

Speaking of ODI series, Ravindra Jadeja's absence from the 50-over format has vacated the vice-captain's position in the squad but reports have hinted that selectors might not take any call on that. Instead, head coach Rahul Dravid is likely to name Dhawan's deputy.

Ravindra Jadeja has been in an incredible form ever since he returned from the injury which he sustained during IPL 2022. The experienced all-rounder scored a magnificent ton in one-off Test match against England and made valuable contribution in the white-ball series.
