India are set to face England for a five-match Test series starting on June 20. Recently, the senior Indian team played an Intra squad practice match with India A as a preparation for the much-awaited Test series in England. Now, the India A team is set to leave for India as their England tour has come to an end and the focus now shifted towards the Test series between England and India.
However, fast bowler Harshit Rana has reportedly stayed with the senior Indian team for the upcoming Test series. As per the reports by RevSportz, Rana has been told not to go back with the India A team by the team management. The Indian team will travel to London on June 17 to prepare for the first Test starting on June 20. As per the reports, Harshit Rana is likely to travel with the team and can be a new addition to India’s Test squad for the England tour.
Sarfaraz Khan, Shardul Thakur score tons in intra squad practice match
In the Intra squad practice game between India and India A, Sarfaraz Khan and Shardul Thakur earned limelights with their respective hundreds. Sarfaraz went on to smash his ton in just 76 balls while Thakur went on to score an unbeaten 122 runs as the match finished within two and a half days. Thakur was also among the wicket takers along with Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna, while Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh went wicketless in the practice game.
Talking about head coach Gautam Gabmhir, he flew back to India last week after his mother suffered a heart attack and was admitted to ICU in hospital in New Delhi. However, the reports are coming that his mother is in better condition now but is still admitted in the ICU. Meanwhile Gambhir is likely to join the Indian team back ahead of the first Test.
