The second leg of the Indian Premier League 2024 is reportedly set to move outside India. Reports reveal that players have been asked to submit their passports for some visa work. The BCCI has released the schedule for the first leg of the tournament and confirmed venues for the first few games. However, the Indian governing body hasn’t released the entire schedule, raising several eyebrows.
The IPL 2024 is set to be played from March 22, and the first leg of the tournament, comprising a set of 21 matches, will conclude on April 7. The BCCI is likely to release the remaining schedule once the Election Commission of India announces the dates of general elections.
IPL 2024 to move outside India: Reports
The second leg of the Indian Premier League 2024 will reportedly move outside India due to a possible collision with the general elections. As per Dainik Jagran’s Abhishek Tripathi, a head coach of an IPL franchise revealed the players have been asked to submit their passports for some visa work. It means that the governing body wants to stay fully prepared if there are chances of moving the tournament to a foreign land.
While there are no talks about the venue yet, if the tournament shifts outside, the UAE is likely to be the preferred venue. Notably, in 2009, the entire tournament was shifted to South Africa due to general elections.
