With the aim of being 100% fit for the Ashes series against England later this year, Australian right-handed batsman Will Pucovski will undergo a shoulder reconstructive surgery next week. Pucovski sustained an injury on his right shoulder while fielding in the third Test match against India in Sydney. The 23-year-old missed the fourth Test match in that series and is also going to miss the rest of Australia’s domestic season because of the surgery.
Will was due to play in the Sheffield Shield for Victoria. But soreness during the practice sessions, especially while batting in the nets ruled him out of the match against New South Wales. This was duly confirmed by Victoria coach, Chris Rogers. “He had a net session yesterday, it looked quite sore. It’s definitely his decision, what he wants to do. It’s his career; we’ve got to support that. And that’s in conjunction with the Australia side as well so we’ll support whatever he thinks. He will be getting a lot of advice from different people, so I think that will probably become a little bit clearer over the next week or two”, said Chris Rogers, who is also a former Australian batsman.
His shoulder reconstructive surgery will be done in Melbourne by a renowned shoulder specialist named Dr. Greg Hoy.

The youngster made a terrific start to his international Test career with an impressive fifty in his debut innings. Will has a staggering average of 51.3 in his 1st class career. He also has two double hundreds under his belt in the Sheffield Shield. The young lad will now not only miss the remainder of Sheffield Shield, but also the World Test Championship Final at Lords if Australia manage to qualify. It is important to note that Australia would be watching the ongoing India-England series on close quarters as their qualification rests on the two teams’ hands.
