On Monday, April 28, the inaugural title winners, Rajasthan Royals will return home to host Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. While the Royals will hope to return to winning ways, breaking their five-match losing streak, the Shubman Gill-led side will hope to continue their domination after earlier beating them at home in Ahmedabad this year.

Ahead of this match, the Rajasthan-based franchise sparked excitement among fans by posting a video showing captain Sanju Samson practicing wicketkeeping drills. This fueled speculations of Samson’s return in the playing XI in the upcoming match.

Sanju Samson doubtful for RR vs GT IPL 2025 match

It is to be noted that the star wicketkeeper-batter suffered an abdominal injury during the match against Delhi Capitals and retired hurt after scoring 31 runs. Medical tests and scans later revealed a side strain, sidelining him from following matches. However, he went on to miss match against Lucknow Super Giants at home and reverse fixture against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Bengaluru, he continues to remain in doubt for the upcoming clash.

A source close to the developments informed MyKhel that Sanju Samson has been training with the side, but will not feature in the match against GT. The wicketkeeper-batter is speculated to not have recovered fully from the abdominal tear. Speaking of his season, in seven outing this season, Samson has amassed 224 runs at an average of 37.33 and a strike rate of 143.58. He has registered only one 50-plus score thus far.
