Sunday, July 13 was a complete entertainer in the sports arena with Team India putting up a show against England in the ongoing Lord’s Test and Jannik Sinner avenging his Roland Garros defeat against World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz. The Italian top seeded, who advanced into his maiden Wimbledon final after defeating 24-time Grand Slam champion, Novak Djokovic, went on to beat the Spaniard in a four-set thriller, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 at the Centre Court.

With this win, Sinner became the first player from Italy to win the Wimbledon Grand Slam Championships. He also denied Alcaraz to complete hat-trick of wins at the grass court tournament after he claimed the previous two titles on the Centre Court in 2024 and 2023.

After going down against Sinner in a thriller on Sunday, Alcaraz will now take home a prize sum of $2,089,878, which amounts to approximately INR 17,64,32,024. It is to be noted that prior to the start of the tournament, the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club announced a record-breaking sum as prize money. “The prize money for The Championships 2025 is a record £53,500,000 with the Ladies’ and Gentlemen’s Singles Champions each receiving £3,000,000,” statement on the official website of Wimbledon read.

Implying with this, while Sinner and Iga Swiatek, the Ladies’ Singles Wimbledon 2025 champion will take home $4,124,760, which is approximately over INR 34 Cr, whereas Alcaraz and USA’s Amanda Anisimova will take home $2,089,878 respectively.
