An Indian T20 league featuring top Women cricketers of the world is no more a dream as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has launched the Women’s Premier League (WPL). The inaugural edition of the tournament will be played from March 4-26 this year and will feature five teams- Gujarat Giants, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, and UP Warriorz.

The auction for the inaugural edition of WPL took place in Mumbai on Monday (February 13). Some big players went under the hammer but the UP franchise opted for young Indian and domestic talent. India's star all-rounder Deepti Sharma turned out to be UP Warriorz biggest buy in the auction. Deepti was picked by the Warriorz for a whopping price of 2.6 Crores.
