The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) on Tuesday, March 26 announced the schedule for the Women’s Asia Cup 2024, which will be held in Dambulla, Sri Lanka. The multi-nation tournament will be played from July 19 to July 28 in the island nation.
Moreover, the 2024 edition of the tournament will feature a total of eight teams, one more than the previous edition in 2022. In the tournament opener, Pakistan will take on Nepal in the first match and the second game will see India play UAE. Moreover, India and Pakistan have been placed in Group A, alongside UAE and Nepal. On the other hand, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Thailand form Group B. Speaking on the release of the schedule for the 2024 Women’s Asia Cup, ACC President Jay Shah, “The Women’s Asia Cup 2024 underscores the ACC’s commitment to promoting women’s cricket in the region. We are excited to see the increased participation and competitiveness among the teams, reflecting the growing popularity and importance of women’s cricket.”
“This expansive, from six teams in 2018 to seven in 2022, and now eight, is a testament to our commitment to the women’s game and the burgeoning talent pool in Asian cricket,” he further added in his statement.
