Delhi Capitals have got back to their winning track as they defeated UP Warriors by 7 wickets in match number six of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 at Vadodara International Cricket Stadium. For DC, skipper Meg Lanning led from the front with a captain’s knock of 69 runs as the two-time runners-up chased the target of 167 runs in 19.5 overs. 

Batting first, UP Warriors got a flying start as Kiran Navgire and Vrinda Dinesh added 66 runs for the first wicket in 5.5 overs. Navgire got out after smashing a quickfire 51 runs off 27 balls hitting six fours and three sixes. Apart from that, Shweta Sehrawat 37(33) runs while Chinelle Henry gave finishing touches with 33*(15) runs with three fours and as many sixes. For Delhi, Annabel Sutherland took two wickets, while Jess Jonassen, Marizanne Kapp, Arundhati Reddy and Minnu Mani scalped a wicket each. 

Meg Lanning, Shafali Varma give flying start as DC register easy win

Chasing the winning target DC got a flying start as skipper Meg Lanning and Shafali Varma put up a partnership of 65 runs in 6.5 overs. Shafali got out after scoring 26(16) runs hitting three fours and a six, while Meg top scored with 69(49) runs with 12 fours. 

After that, Annabel Sutherland and Marizanne Kapp gave finishing touches with an unbeaten partnership of 48 runs as DC chased the target with one ball remaining. Sutherland remained unbeaten on 41*(35) runs hitting four boundaries while Kapp scored 29*(17) runs with four boundaries. For UP Warriors, Sophie Ecclestone, skipper Deepti Sharma and Grace Harris scalped a wicket each.
