Mohammed Shami, one of the star performers for India in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023, will reportedly have a stadium in his native village of Sahaspur Alinagar in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh. The sources have revealed that the state government, headed by the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is likely to give nod to the proposal of constructing the stadium on Saturday, November 18.
The DM of Amroha, Rajesh Kumar Tyagi has sent the proposal to the office of the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in regard to constructing the stadium after he identified a piece of land over 1 hectare, as per the report from the Times of India. The new facility could be built as part of the Uttar Pradesh government’s plan to develop 20 stadiums in rural areas.
Rajesh Kumar Tyagi said to PTI, “In the village (Sahaspur Alinagar) of Mohammed Shami Ji, we are sending a proposal of a mini stadium. In that proposal, there will be an open gym along with the mini stadium. And there is adequate and suitable land there, so we are sending the proposal promptly. The administration had sent instructions to construct 20 mini stadiums, and in that, Janpadam Amroha’s mini stadium was also there, which has been selected.”
Noor Saba, the sister-in-law of Mohammed Shami, who also is the head of Sahaspur Alinagar village talked about the latest development and said to ANI, “The government is doing a good job. And a stadium in the name of Shami Ahmed (Mohammed Shami) should be made. In that village more kids should play, which will ensure that the name of Sahaspur Alinagar and the country stand out.”
