English all-rounder Jamie Overton, who is a part of Chennai Super Kings in the ongoing IPL 2025, revealed the message where he told his father to experience MS Dhoni coming out to bat. Notably, CSK aren’t having a great time in the ongoing season but the craze for skipper Dhoni is still unmatched. The fans give the loudest cheers whenever Dhoni come out to bat after a fall of the wicket.
Reacting to this, Jamie Overton revealed that he messaged his father and agent after his first home game for CSK this year and said he was shocked to see the Chepauk crowd cheering loudly after Ravindra Jadeja’s wicket sensing MS Dhoni’s entry next.
"I messaged my dad and my agent after the first home game. I was like, 'You have to come out and experience MS walking out to the middle. [Ravindra] Jadeja got run-out and you had a home crowd cheering for someone to get run-out. I've watched Premier League games, plenty of other sports events, and there's nothing else like that noise," Jamie Overton told ESPN Cricinfo.
Dhoni holds the bat quite low with his hands: Jamie Overton
Speaking further, Jamie Overton revealed the learnings he observed while watching MS Dhoni batting in the net. The English all-rounder feels that he is in a good place while batting.
"He holds the bat quite low with his hands, whereas I'm more an English or Australian version, with quite high hands. The spinners don't get as much bounce [in India] so I'm trying to be a bit lower, with my hands a bit more relaxed... I feel like I'm in a good place with my batting," Jamie Overton said.
CSK will be back in action again as they are set to host Sunrisers Hyderabad in match number 43 of IPL 2025 at M.A Chidambaram Stadium on April 25.
