Cricket was yet again the winner when Delhi Capitals met the Royal Challengers Bangalore in Dubai. The match went to the wire and eventually, it was a contest between the two rising stars of Indian cricket. While Avesh Khan was the bowler, it was KS Bharat who was having an impressive season this year and had scored his maiden IPL fifty in this match, who was the batter.

A dramatic turn of events later, the equation was simple for the batting team- one ball and five runs to win. Although a boundary would have been enough to force the match into a super over, Avesh bowled a disastrous final ball, a full toss on a good height which the set Bharat hit over the bowler's head for six.

The scenes that followed were simply ecstatic. As players ran to the ground to congratulate Bharat (78*) for his stupendous achievement, Glenn Maxwell's 51* was equally crucial in the context of the match. Earlier after being invited to bat first, the Delhi openers had got off to a great start but were pulled back by RCB bowlers to 164/5.

While it looked like Delhi bowlers would be able to win the contest as they got rid of Virat Kohli, Devdutt Padikkal and later AB de Villiers, Maxwell and Bharat took the game deep. A phenomenal penultimate over from the pick of the Delhi bowlers Anrich Nortje (2/24) meant Bangalore needed 15 runs from the last 6 balls.

While Avesh did a great job in the first half of the over and it was down to 8 needed from 2 balls, a misfield and a wide later meant the equation was down to a four needed for a super over off the last ball. But Bharat pounced on to Khan's full toss and made it a night to remember for himself and Bangalore fans.
