World champion and Gold Medalist Jaismine Lamboria will carry India’s flag at the closing ceremony of the 2026 Commonwealth Games on Sunday. The 24-year-old had a brilliant campaign by winning gold in the women’s 57kg category in Glasgow, adding to the bronze she took home from Birmingham four years ago. She has been in excellent form for the last few years. In 2025 she became world champion in Liverpool and followed it up with a silver medal at the Asian Championships this year.
India finished the Commonwealth Games with 39 medals which includes 13 gold, 17 silver and nine bronze to end fourth in the overall standings. Considering the curtailed event it is an excellent performance especially by the boxing players. As the curtains come down in Glasgow, the focus shifts to the official handover which will happen at the closing ceremony.
India will host the next Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad in 2030, and the ceremony will include a special three-part segment celebrating the shared values and cultural ties between India and the Commonwealth. Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi will be present as Ahmedabad is formally welcomed as the next host city.
When and where to watch the Commonwealth Games 2026 closing ceremony live in India
The Commonwealth Games closing ceremony starts at 9:00 PM BST on 2 August (1:30 AM IST on 3 August) at the OVO Hydro. It will be shown live on Sony Sports Network (Ten 2, Ten 3 and Ten 4) and DD Sports, with streaming available on SonyLIV. There will be a 20-minute cultural performance to start the ceremony which is one of the highlights.
The ceremony will open with a tribute to the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram, followed by a classical jugalbandi between sitar player Rishabh Rikhiram Sharma and Scottish piper Ross Ainslie. The list of Indian artists who will be performing at the ceremony include renowned musician Shankar Mahadevan, Miss World 2017 pageant Manushi Chillar, Gujarat’s own Bhoomi Trivedi, and others.
