Early on Sunday, September 7, World No. 1 ranked Aryna Sabalenka defeated her American counterpart Amanda Anisimova to secured her fourth Grand Slam title. The Belarusian beat her opponent 6-3, 7-6 (3) to defend her US Open title, thus becoming the first woman since Serena Williams to win consecutive titles at the prestigious tennis major.

The 27-year-old, who has been in brilliant form off late, continued her dominance and secured a win despite slipping in the second set to secure a victory in a battle which went on for one hour and 34 minutes. The Belarusian displayed exceptional control and power during her win under the closed roof of the Arthur Ashe Stadium due to rain.

The win also helped her secure her only fourth Grand Slam title. During her one hour and 34 minutes match, Sabalenka established control, taking the first set convincingly by 6-3 margin. After securing multiple breaks in the second set, the Belarusian regained her composure and prevailed in the tie-break to etch victory at the Flushing Meadows.

Moreover, with a US Open 2025 win, Sabalenka now has four Grand Slam titles to her name, all of which have come on hard courts. Furthermore, she is the first World No. 1 and top seed to win the US Open title since Iga Swiatek in 2022, leading her record at the US Open 34-6.
