India’s medal tally continued to grow on Saturday, August 1, at the 2026 Commonwealth Games with Jadumani Singh’s silver. Jadumani Singh Mandengbam settled for the silver medal in the men’s 55 kg boxing event at the marquee tournament. He suffered a 5-0 unanimous decision loss to Australia’s Jye Dixon in the final at the Scottish Event Campus in Glasgow. The Aussie boxer was awarded by all five judges as he got the better of the Indian boxer in three rounds.
Dixon edged by identical numbers on every scoreboard with Judges 1, 3 and 4 scoring it 29-28, while 2 and 5 returned 30-27 in his favour. While the clash was closely fought, Dixon established his control over the Indian boxer. While Singh responded by attempting to force the pace, he was unable to overturn the deficit, and eventually settled for the silver.
Jadumani Singh Puts Up Impressive Performance Throughout the Tournament to Reach Maiden CWG Finals
The 22-year-old put up an impressive performance throughout the campaign to secure his first ever Commonwealth Games final seat. In the semifinals, he took down England’s Ellis Trowbridge in a dominant 5-0 unanimous decision. Singh, who serves in the Indian Army, kicked off his campaign by clashing against Pakistan’s Sumama Rehman and securing a 5-0 win in the round of 16. He had dedicated his win to the heroes of the Kargil War.
In the quarterfinals, he produced a flawless 5-0 win over Zambia’s Mwengo Mwale. Notably, his medal has taken India’s tally to three in boxing and 30th overall medal.
