Star tennis player and legend, Novak Djokovic on Wednesday, September 3 defeated American Taylor Fritz in a four-set thriller at the Arthur Ashe Stadium at the ongoing US Open 2025. The 38-year-old, who is eyeing his record-breaking 25th Grand Slam title at the US Open, cruised past the American in a battle which lasted for three hours and 24 minutes.

With a 6-3, 7-5, 3-6, 6-4 win over Fritz, the Serb continued his clear head-to-head record extending it to now 11-0. In the match, the America was seen struggling to capitalise his chances as he could convert only two of 13 break points and missed five of them in the opening set itself.

The Serb, who with a win over Germany’s Jan-Lennard Struff in the round of 16 became the oldest quarter-finalist at the tennis major since Jimmy Connors, has now setup a clash against the second ranked Carlos Alcaraz of Spain. The Serbian however boasts of a 5-3 head to head record against Spaniard, he also issued a stern warning at the post-match presentation.

"We know they're the two best players in the world. Everybody's probably expecting the final between them. I'm going to try to mess up the plans of most of the people. Let's see. Sinner still has to win a couple of matches to get to the finals but they are definitely playing the best Tennis and been a dominant force since the beginning of the tournament," Djokovic said, warning to spoil Sinner vs Alcaraz final.

Speaking of Alcaraz, the 22-year-old enters the semi-final after win over Czech 20th seeded Jiri Lehecka. The Spaniard dominated the Czech international in three straight sets 6-4, 6-2, 6-4 in a match which lasted for one hour and 56 minutes.
