Algerian boxer Imane Khelif, who was amid controversy during the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, has once again hogged limelight after she approached the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to challenge her tests. Khelif, who in February this year confirmed to fight against the legal action taken by the International Boxing Association (IBA) on International Olympic Committee (IOC) allowing her to participate in the Olympic Games, has now confirmed to move to CAS.

The Olympic gold medallist on Monday, September 1 approached the CAS to challenge global boxing Federation’s decision which “disallows the athlete’s participation in upcoming World Boxing events without preliminary genetic tests.” The update was confirmed by sport’s highest court.

However, there hasn’t been any statement from the boxer herself, but her moves comes only days after Khelif denied accusations by her former manager Nasser Yesfah. It is to be noted that Nasser had stated that Khelif was taking a break from her boxing career, but the Algerian denied the speculations, stating, “I would like to make it clear to the public that the reports of my retirement from boxing are false.”

Taking to Facebook, the boxer further added, “This person no longer represents me in any way. I have never announced my retirement from boxing. I remain committed to my sporting career, I train regularly and I maintain my physical condition between Algeria and Qatar in preparation for upcoming events.”

Imane Khelif wasn’t the only one who hogged limelight for her gender row as Taiwanese fighter Lin Yu-ting, who also won a gold, was also in news. While the Taiwanese will undergo tests for the World Championships in coming time, Khelif continues to fight for her right.
