Tennis great and five-time Grand Slam winner, Maria Sharapova on Monday, August 25 was honoured on the sidelines of the ongoing tennis major - the US Open 2025 in the New York city. The 38-year-old who bid adieu to professional tennis in February 2020, on Monday was inducted in the International Tennis Hall of Fame alongside the Bryan brother - Bob and Mike.
Later in the day, the tennis great was presented with a special ring during a ceremony at the Arthur Ashe Stadium. The Russian international appeared in a beautiful black dress, reminding fans of her iconic 2004 tennis outfit while being honoured at the event.

“New York City, what a special place and special court. You people have made such an incredible impact on my journey and my career,” the five-time Grand Slam champion said at the ceremony. The 38-year-old also thanked her supporters, who stood behind her in her 19-year-long tennis journey.
The Russian, who was a pioneer in mixing fashion with sports on the tennis court, has had a brilliant career. However, her career too was marred with controversy as she served a 15-month suspension for unintentional doping, but her achievements speak of volumes.
Sharapova, who turned pro in 2001, first reached No. 1 in August of 2005, and won a total of 36 singles career titles, 645 singles matches and more than $38 million in on-court prize money.
