Couples AJ Lee and CM Punk will square off against Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch at Wrestlepalooza on September 20, as WWE has announced a mixed tag team match between both pairs. The tag-team contest was confirmed on Monday Night RAW on September 8. The high-stake match was announced after the confrontation between both couples in RAW, held in Milwaukee. Lee, who beat Becky Lynch to snatch the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship in the previous week’s SmackDown, addressed the spectators and spoke on her decade-long absence and retirement.
In her address, Lee also revealed that she has achieved all her objectives in her wrestling career. Her speech got interrupted as Lynch broke into the scene and starting demanding the return of her championship. Things got worsened when Lynch’s husband Seth Rollins walked into the middle and started threatening Lee. AJ challenged Rollins and Lynch for the title against her and CM Punk. However, Rollins refused to relent and continued his verbal attack on AJ. Amidst these scenes, CM punk emerged into the scene and strove to attack Rollins, who escaped by leaving the ring.

After rescuing the attack from CM Punk, Rollins accepted the challenge. For Lee, it will be a colossal match after returning from her retirement. In 2015, she retired from WWE due to cervical spine issues. The contest between couples is expected to attract a lot of eyeballs as WWE is gearing up for its first-ever Premium Live Event under the ESPN banner.
Both Punk and Lee got married to each other in June 2014 and will take on Lynch and Rollins, who have been in a wedlock since 2021. Both Punk and Rollins faced each other in the steel cage match in March 2025 and the latter emerged triumphant for the first time against the 46-year-old.
