The wrestling world continues to grapple with the sudden death of WWE legend Hulk Hogan, who passed away on July 24, 2025, at the age of 71. Hogan’s death at his Clearwater Beach, Florida, home shocked fans and the industry alike. Reportedly the Pinellas County Medical Examiner confirmed that Hogan suffered an acute myocardial infarction (heart attack), with medical records also revealing a previously undisclosed history of chronic lymphocytic leukemia and atrial fibrillation. However new doubts and allegations have reportedly emerged, casting a shadow over the circumstances surrounding the iconic wrestler’s passing.
Vince Russo, former head writer for WCW and WWE, has publicly questioned the official narrative, describing it as “not normal” and pointing to inconsistencies in the reported cause of death. Speaking on Sportskeeda’s The Wrestling Outlaws, Russo expressed skepticism about the official account, stating, “There’s a lot of Kabuki-ish things going on. There was no autopsy filed. The coroner was the one that listed the cause of death. Usually there’s an autopsy.” He highlighted concerns raised by Brooke Hogan, who has publicly demanded an autopsy to clarify her father’s “very complicated medical history.” It is implied by reports that Russo’s remarks echo a growing sentiment among some in the wrestling community that the full truth about Hogan’s death remains obscured, particularly in light of emerging allegations of medical malpractice.
Hulk Hogan’s widow Sky Daily and estranged daughter Brooke Hogan also reportedly raised concerns
Reports claim that Hulk Hogan’s widow, Sky Daily, is reportedly planning to file a medical malpractice lawsuit, alleging that a botched neck surgery in May 2025 compromised his breathing, potentially contributing to his death. Additionally it is said that his estranged daughter, Brooke Hogan has also raised pointed questions about the lack of a public autopsy and the coroner’s role in determining the cause of death. According to a report by TMZ Sports, an occupational therapist present at Hogan’s home on the day he died informed Clearwater police that a surgeon may have “severed” Hogan’s phrenic nerve during a neck operation in May 2025. The phrenic nerve is critical for controlling the diaphragm, which regulates breathing.
The therapist’s claim, reportedly captured on police body camera footage, suggests that this surgical error could have led to Hogan’s sudden cessation of breathing, reportedly as described by Sky Daily in her 911 call: “My husband’s not breathing. He just stopped breathing.” The Clearwater Police Department has reportedly stated that its investigation into Hogan’s death is ongoing, emphasizing the “unique nature of this case” and the need to review medical records and interview witnesses. While the official police report is reportedly on “lockdown,” law enforcement has dismissed outlandish theories. The allegations of medical malpractice have added a layer of complexity to Hogan’s legacy, which spans wrestling, film, and reality television
