After the conclusion of IPL 2022 mega auction, there are some very exciting things to watch out for in the upcoming season. While Ravichandran Ashwin is all set to play alongside Jos Buttler at Rajasthan Royals, Deepak Hooda and Krunal Pandya will be teammates once again, this time at Lucknow Super Giants. However, there is one pairing which could turn out to be a legendary one - Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis at Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Although there were many exciting openers available in the mega auction, like David Warner, Quinton de Kock and Jonny Bairstow, RCB looked keen to get only one player on board - Faf du Plessis. They bid aggressively for him and eventually signed him for Rs 7 crore. It was indeed a brilliant move for them as they got a proven IPL match-winner who is likely to be available for the whole season.

As expected, there was indeed a lot of excitement among the fans. The likely prospect of Virat Kohli opening the innings alongside Faf du Plessis will indeed be a sight to watch for cricket lovers. But do you know who could have been the main reason behind RCB going after Faf? It could indeed be none other than the franchise's former captain - Virat Kohli.

The 33-year-old has always been a huge admirer of Faf du Plessis. An old footage from 2019 (which was shot before start of ODI World Cup) is now going viral after Kohli had expressed his desire to play alongside the Proteas' batsman.

On being asked about who would he like to choose as a teammate for him from another country, he had said, "I would choose Faf. We are good friends. I would love to bat with him."
