In a major development from the world of football, Arsenal have reportedly pipped Tottenham Hotspur to reach an agreement in principle to sign English winger Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace. It is understood that Arsenal offered £60 million with £8 million in add-ons for the services of the 27-year-old to Crystal Palace just hours after Tottenham Hotspur had agreed a deal for him with the London-based club on Wednesday, August 20.

As per the report from BBC Sport, Tottenham Hotspur had talks lasting 10 days with Crystal Palace for Eberechi Eze to agree a deal for him before Arsenal swooped in. Moreover, the English winger, who started his youth career at Arsenal just a few years ago, favours a move to the club ahead of Tottenham Hotspur despite the latter holding talks to get him on board.

Amid this, Oliver Glasner, the manager of Crystal Palace, had confirmed earlier on the same day that Eberechi Eze will start for the club against Fredrikstad of Norway in the first leg of the UEFA Conference League play-off clash at Selhurst Park on Thursday, August 21. He talked about how Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi are “committed to the team” despite the speculation of their departure elsewhere.

Guehi is linked with a move to Liverpool, and currently, the talks are underway with Crystal Palace to make it happen especially since he is currently in the final year of his contract at his current club. As far as Eze is concerned, he is looking to join Arsenal before the ongoing summer transfer window on September 1, and his medical is booked for Friday, August 22.
