The defending champions Australia Women registered their fifth win in the ongoing Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 after they defeated England Women by six wickets at Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore. With this, Australia have returned at the top of the points table with five victories in six matches so far and are yet to lose a game in the ongoing Women’s World Cup. Batting first, England Women posted 244/9 in their 50 overs. In reply, Australia chased the winning target in 40.3 overs with six wickets in hand.
Coming to bat first losing the toss, England Women got a good start as Amy Jones and Tamsin Beaumont put up an opening partnership of 55 runs in nine overs. Beaumont turned out to be a top scorer with 78 runs off 105 balls hitting 10 fours and one six. Alice Capsey also contributed with 38 runs off 32 balls with five boundaries. For Australia Women, Annabel Sutherland took three wickets, Ashleigh Gardner and Sophie Molineux scalped two wickets each while Alana King put one in her bag.

Coming to chase the winning target, Australia Women had a poor start as they were reduced to 68/4 in 15.5 overs. After that, Annabel Sutherland and Ashleigh took charge of the innings as the duo put up an unbeaten partnership of 180 runs and took Australia down the line. Sutherland fell short of her hundred by just two runs as he remained unbeaten on 98* runs off 112 balls hitting nine fours and a six.
On the other hand, Gardner top scored with an unbeaten 104* runs off 73 balls hitting 16 boundaries. Australia Women chased the target of 245 runs in 40.3 overs losing four wickets. For England Women, Linsey Smith took two wickets, while Sophie Ecclestone and Lauren Bell scalped a wicket each.
