India Women spinner Gouher Sultana has retired from all forms of cricket. She made her international debut in May 2008 with her Women’s One-Day International (WODI) debut against Pakistan in Kurunegala. Playing her maiden game, she bagged 3/9 figures in 10 overs and played a vital role in her team’s massive 182-run win. The same year, she broke into Women’s T20 Internationals (WT20I). Representing India from 2008 to 2014, she grabbed 95 wickets for India in 87 internationals. Her last international appearance came in April 2014. During her career, she also showed up in two WODI World Cups (2009 and 2013) and a couple of WT20I World Cups (2009 and 2014).

She announced the decision through her Instagram account. Taking to her social media handle she revealed that it was the biggest honour for her to serve India. "To have represented India at the highest level - in World Cups, tours and battles that tested both skill and spirit - has been the greatest honour of my life. Every wicket taken, every dive in the field, every huddle with my teammates has shaped the cricketer and the person I am today. Every wicket taken, every dive in the field, every huddle with my teammates has shaped the cricketer and the person I am today," wrote Sultana on her Instagram account.

Gouher Sultana was also a part of UP Warriorz in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) in 2024 and 2025. Playing four games, she didn’t get any success. Her debut came against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in February 2024 while her final appearance for the team came against Mumbai Women in Lucknow in March 2025.

Gouher played alongside India greats such as Mithali Raj and Jhulan Goswami. She is currently 37 and now after hanging her boots, she will continue to contribute to the sport as a BCCI Level-2 coach.
