Bangladesh fast bowler Jahanara Alam has made an serious allegation of sexual harassment on an official from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). Alam claimed that a former selector behaved inappropriately with her during the 2022 Women’s ODI World Cup in New Zealand. Now, after the allegations by Alam, the BCB confirmed that they will run an investigation on this matter.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board has given a deadline of 15 days to the selection committee to submit their records after which they will take an appropriate action. "The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has noted with concern the allegations reported in the media made by a former member of the Bangladesh national women's cricket team regarding alleged misconduct by certain individuals associated with the team," the statement by the BCB read.
BCB ensures to acquire a safe environment for the players
Jahanara Alam claimed that an Bangladesh Cricket Board official misbehaved with her while he was selector and team manager at the time of the 2022 World Cup. Alam also claimed that he asked her obscene questions and also accused some other BCB officials of behaving inappropriately with her.
"As the matter is of a sensitive nature, the BCB has decided to form a committee to investigate the allegations thoroughly. The committee will submit its findings and recommendations within 15 working days. The BCB is committed to ensuring a safe, respectful, and professional environment for all its players and personnel. The Board takes such matters with utmost seriousness and will take appropriate action based on the findings of the investigation,” BCB said in their statement.
