A dramatic series of events took place as Pakistan Women’s opener Muneeba Ali lost her wicket via runout during the ongoing Women’s Cricket World Cup clash against India Women at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. While chasing a target of 248 runs against India Women, the Fatima Sana-led side had a very slow start as Muneeba Ali and Sadaf Shams could only add six runs for the first wicket in four overs. During the last ball of the fourth over, Kranit Goud made an LBW appeal after her full length delivery ended up hitting Muneeba’s pads but the umpire turned down the appeal.

However, Deepti Sharma took advantage of the batter standing out of the crease and hit the stumps with her throw. After that, the on-field umpire called the third umpire to check the runout. Although, Muneeba’s bat was inside the crease the whole, she lifted it up at the same moment when the ball hit the stumps. The third umpire confirmed the runout and Pakistan Women lost their first wicket in the form of a runout. However, the Pakistani team wasn’t looking happy with this decision. Interestingly, the ball was seen hitting the stumps in the ball tracking and India would have still gotten a wicket if they had taken a review for the LBW appeal.
