Australia Women captain Alyssa Healy paid tribute to her husband and star pacer Mitchell Starc, who retired from T20 Internationals (T20I) on September 2. Starc played T20I cricket for the Aussie side for 13 years from 2012 to 2025. During this period, he bagged 79 wickets in 65 outings at an economy of 7.74. In September 2012, he made his debut against Pakistan in Dubai while the final game of his career came against India in the T20 World Cup 2024, played in Gros Islet. The 35-year-old bid adieu to cricket’s shortest format to focus on Tests and One-Day Internationals (ODI).

After Starc’s announcement, his wife Alyssa Healy shared a heartfelt message for him on social media. Taking to Instagram, she posted a story and wrote, “Onya maaateee @mstarc56.” The renowned Aussie phrase means “Well done, mate! Proud of you!”

Mitchell Starc’s notable moments in T20Is

Mitchell Starc was a part of Australian side that won the T20 World Cup 2021, held in the United Arab Emirates. In his team’s maiden trophy win, he picked up nine wickets in seven matches at an economy of 9.18. In 2022, he recorded his best T20I figures as he grabbed 4/20 figures against the West Indies at The Gabba. Australia won that game comfortably by 31 runs.

Starc is likely to be seen against Team India in the upcoming three-match 50-over series, set to be played Down Under. The ODI competition will be played between October 19 and 25, and the Aussie side will miss the services of their captain Pat Cummins, who is struggling with a back injury. Starc’s responsibility will be to spearhead his team’s fast-bowling unit confidently in the upcoming assignment. Discussing his ODI numbers against the Men In Blue, he has played 19 matches in which he took 30 wickets at an economy of 5.99.
