India’s recent performances have showcased positive prospects for the upcoming Women’s ODI World Cup.The Women in Blue showcased their dominance during a multi-format tour of England in June 2025, clinching the T20I series 3-2 and the ODI series 2-1. A standout moment was Harmanpreet Kaur’s seventh ODI century, a match-winning 103 not out against England in Canterbury, which powered India to a 7-wicket victory while chasing 258. The team’s depth was further evident in their spin-heavy bowling attack, led by Deepti Sharma and Radha Yadav, and a formidable batting line-up featuring Smriti Mandhana.

Australia Women’s skipper Alyssa Healy has also acknowledged India as a formidable force in the upcoming ICC Women’s ODI World Cup, set to commence on September 30, 2025, in India and Sri Lanka. She also backed England and pointed out that India’s spin-heavy attack and strong home record make them serious contenders. "I wouldn't write England off just yet, I think they will find a groove under Charlotte Edwards. But I think the way that India are playing, at home in those conditions, they are going to be really tough to beat,” Healy told reporters in Sydney on Thursday at the unveiling of Cricket Australia’s new four-year partnership with Westpac.

Australia Women will commence their World Cup campaign against White Ferns

Australia are scheduled to begin their Women’s ODI World Cup against New Zealand in October, the match is scheduled to take place at Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore. Reportedly, 35-year-old Alyssa Healy has adopted a hybrid technique for the preparation of the tournament. It is said that she has blended traditional methods with more efficient movement patterns behind the stumps, she will reportedly put these changes to test in Australia A’s upcoming ODI series against India A as she is no stranger to high-stakes battles against India.

Australia’s rivalry with India has produced thrilling contests, including the 2020 T20 World Cup final, where Healy’s 75 off 39 balls helped Australia secure a 85-run victory in front of 86,174 fans at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. However, India have pushed Australia to the limit in the 2018 and 2020 T20 World Cup group stages, where they secured victories. Australia, the seven-time champions are also considered as strong contenders to lift the trophy again. England, ranked second in the ICC ODI rankings, despite losing to India has a batting line-up led by Nat Sciver-Brunt, and their pace attack make them a reportedly dangerous outfit. The Women’s ODI World Cup will also feature other reportedly strong contenders like South Africa and 2024 T20 World Cup winners New Zealand.
