On Saturday, August 23, in match number ten of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025, the Trinbago Knight Riders defeated the Saint Lucia Kings by 18 runs at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in Gros Islet, St Lucia. Coming into the match after going down by eight-run margin to Antigua and Barbuda Falcons on August 20, the Nicholas Pooran-led side bounced back in style to get their only second win of the season.
For the unversed, the Saint Lucia Kings won the toss and elected to bowl first. As a result, the Pooran-led side was put to put the score first on the board. On the back of a 30-ball 43 from Colin Munro and 29-ball 65 from Kieron Pollard, the Trinbago Knight Riders posted 183 at the loss of seven wickets in their stipulated 20 overs.
Kieron Pollard becomes second player to complete 200 sixes in CPL’s history
During Pollard’s 29-ball stay in the middle, the 38-year-old also etched history as he completed 200 sixes in the tournament’s history. His innings, which was laced by 10 boundaries - four fours and six maximums, he went on to become only the second player in the league’s history to achieve this feat. While he remains second after Evin Lewis, he is the first non-opener to hit 200-plus sixes in CPL.
Notably, Evin Lewis breached the 200 sixes mark on Friday, August 22 during St Kitts and Nevis Patriots’ 12-run win over Barbados Royals at Werner Park. Furthermore, this is the second instance of Pollard completing 200 sixes in a franchise league as he previously breached this mark in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
However, Pollard remains the first player in history to achieve 200 or more sixes mark in two major franchise-based T20 cricket leagues. As far as the numbers are concerned, 11 players have achieved this milestone in IPL, two in CPL and only one have reached this mark in the Big Bash League (BBL).
