Indian batter Rinku Singh has suffered a heart-breaking loss as his father, Khanchand Singh passed away at Yatharth Hospital in Greater Noida on Friday. He was battling liver cancer and it was in the advanced stage. He was on ventilator support for the past few days as per hospital officials. Rinku Singh had briefly returned home after the South Africa game and despite the emotional turmoil Rinku had joined Team India ahead of the game against Zimbabwe. A spokesperson from the hospital, Dr Sunil Kumar, said his condition had deteriorated significantly after being admitted on February 21. “He was placed on ventilator support and breathed his last early this morning,”. A family source also confirmed the news, saying he had been fighting liver cancer for some time. Khachandra Singh had been on a ventilator for the last 3-4 days and despite intensive care his health declined rapidly.

Rinku Singh was not picked for the match but was part of the set up and even did fielding in the second innings coming in as a substitute. India will play their next match against West Indies on March 1. As per reports Rinku has left the team at 5am today and the last rites will be performed in Aligarh later today with Rinku Singh expected to attend it.
