Indian batter Rinku Singh has suffered a heart-breaking loss as his father, Khanchand Singh passed away at Yatharth Hospital in Greater Noida on Friday. He was battling liver cancer and it was in the advanced stage. He was on ventilator support for the past few days as per hospital officials. Rinku Singh had briefly returned home after the South Africa game and despite the emotional turmoil Rinku had joined Team India ahead of the game against Zimbabwe. Rinku Singh was not picked for the match but was part of the set up and even did fielding in the second innings coming in as a substitute. India will play their next match against West Indies on March 1. As per reports Rinku has left the team at 5am today and the last rites will be performed in Aligarh later today with Rinku Singh expected to attend it.

 

In this WT20, Rinku Singh has played 5 matches so far and has been out of form managing 24 runs and was not picked in the XI for the Zimbabwe game. It is unclear if the batter will be available for the rest of the tournament and there has been no official update from BCCI yet. It is a very hard time for Rinku Singh who has lost his father and the cricketing fraternity has expressed their condolences and the squad will also rally around Rinku Singh in this difficult moment of his life.
