A terrifying incident took place during a local cricket match played in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Saturday, September 6. A bomb blast occurred on the ground where the match was being played which resulted in at least one death, as reported by Bajaur District Police officer Waqas Rafique. The bomb blast also resulted in several injuries and no group has taken the responsibility for the attack till now.
“It appears to be a targeted attack,” said Waqas Rafique as quoted in Dawn, a Pakistani news publication. Wafique further explained that the bomb was carried out by improvised explosive device (IED). Sources also confirmed that one civilian named Najeeb Khan and one police constable also got injured during the bomb blast, and the vehicles which were parked near that area were also damaged.
Terrorists also targeted a police station
In the further reports, it was revealed that the terrorists who planned the bomb blast during a cricket match also targeted a police station. The terrorists attempted quadcopter strike on the police station but the target was missed. Public relations officer of the district police Israr Khan told Dawn that the injured were immediately taken to the district headquarters hospital in Khar.
Earlier on Tuesday, September 2, six police officers and six militants also lost their lives after the paramilitary force in northwest Pakistan was attacked by a suicide bomber. It led to a 12-hour long gun battle between the officials and the terrorist. The suicide bomber drove his car into the boundary base of Bannu Town that shares border with Afghanistan.
