The Men’s Asia Cup 2025 culminated with India finishing unbeaten and lifting their record ninth title after defeating Pakistan in the final on Sunday, September 28 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai. Coming into the final after six wickets on the trot, the Suryakumar Yadav-led side once again continued their their arch-rivals, handing them five-wicket defeat.

While the Men in Blue had several concerns during their over 20-day long campaign, Suryakumar Yadav’s form was also one of the key areas. Having played all matches, the Indian middle-order batter could only amass 72 runs across six innings of seven matches, raising several eyeballs on his form.

Not out of form, just out of runs: Suryakumar Yadav mic-drops after being questioned of his form

However, after the side’s victory, during the post-match address, the Indian skipper was questioned on his run of form which has seen him struggle with the bat. Responding to the query, the Mumbai batter brushed aside concerns of his slump, while claiming that he is just short of runs and not out of form. “I feel that when it comes to form, I believe more in what I’m doing in the nets. How spot-on I am with my preparation is what I really focus on. Once the match starts, everything runs on auto-pilot,” he began.

“So if you’re saying I’m out of form, I don’t think that’s the case — I’m not out of form, I’m just out of runs. I believe the runs will come if you keep practicing, and with God watching from above, if you keep working hard, everything will fall into place at the right time. It’s happening for others now, who knows what happens next,” he continued.

Although, Suryakumar Yadav might have struggled to be among the runs, except his unbeaten 47 off 37 deliveries, which came against Pakistan in the group stage of the tournament, the Asia Cup title win marked his first major title as the skipper of the side.
