The final retentions are confirmed ahead of the much-awaited IPL 2026 auction which is scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi on December 16. However, after the retentions were announced, the reigning champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru faced a huge backlash from the fans for retaining fast bowler Yash Dayal for the upcoming season.
RCB have retained 17 players from their title winning squad last season including Yash Dayal. However, the fans aren’t happy with Dayal’s retention due to charges of sexual assault against the fast bowler. Notably, Yash Dayal has been facing criminal charges in two separate cases in Ghaziabad and Jaipur, with FIRs filed in both cities. As a consequence of this, Dayal was also banned from taking part in the UP T20 League 2025. However, he has been retained by RCB for IPL 2026, which will is likely start in March end next year.
