Star Royal Challenger Bengaluru (RCB) cricketer Yash Dayal, who recently was in news in a case concerning alleged rape of a minor girl, is all set to miss the upcoming edition of the UP T20 League. The premier T20 league in the state of Uttar Pradesh will be back with its third edition this season, scheduled to be played from August 17 till September 6.

But as the season gets closer to commencement, one of the teams in the tournament - the Gorakhpur Lions will not be able to avail the services of premium fast bowler Yash Dayal after the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) has reportedly banned him from the league. This comes after the 27-year-old was recently involved in a alleged rape case, proceeding of which are ongoing in the Rajasthan High Court.

As per reports going viral, the state cricket association has sanctioned a ban against Dayal which will bar him to feature in the upcoming edition of the T20 tournament. A source close to the development in the UPCA shared an update regarding the same, stating that as a case has been registered against Dayal, the Board doesn’t want him to play in the T20 league. Furthermore, the report also claims that UPCA has informed the franchise to not include him in the upcoming edition.

Notably, Yash Dayal was roped in by Gorakhpur Lions for INR 7 Lakh in the UP T20 League. The 27-year-old pacer played an important role in RCB’s maiden title win in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. In the 15 matches he played in IPL 2025 for RCB, he picked up 13 wickets at an average of 36.15 and an economy of 9.59.

So far, he has played for two IPL franchises - Gujarat Titans and the RCB and has picked up 41 wickets in a total of 43 matches. While he won his first IPL title with the Gujarat Titans in IPL 2022 under Hardik Pandya’s captaincy, he was roped in by RCB ahead of the 2024 season and went onto lift the title in IPL 2025 after being retained for INR 5 Crore.
