Who is Manav Suthar? Spin all-rounder who starred in India A’s recent victory

India’s young spin sensation Manav Suthar has suddenly rose to fame after his brilliant bowling performance in India A’s second unofficial Test against Australia A in Lucknow. The left-arm spinner, who played his first competitive game since January 2025, ended up picking a five-wicket haul on his first day, finishing with figures of 5/107. He picked up the key wickets of Oliver Peake, Cooper Connolly, Josh Philippe, Will Sutherland and Corey Rocchiccioli.

While the Rajasthan-born remains in fray to make his India debut soon, he also notched up a century in First-Class in just 24 matches. “ It’s a huge achievement. Everyone dreams of playing First-Class cricket — Ranji Trophy, Duleep Trophy and India A. I am very happy,” he later said after India A’s victory over Australia A to claim the two-match series by 1-0 margin.

Speaking of Suthar, since making his debut in the 2021-22 season for Rajasthan, Suthar’s skills have been widely appreciated, having picked 140 wickets across formats. He recently was part of the India A side in both multi-day and one-day formats and earned an IPL contract in 2024 with the Gujarat Titans. Suthar, who hails from Sri Ganganagar district of Rajasthan, has often spoken of his likeliness for Ravichandran Ashwin, who recently put down curtains to his elaborated international career.
