On the fourth and final day of the Duleep Trophy 2025 second semi-final, Yashasvi Jaiswal, the West Zone opener, hit a fiery fifty in just 56 balls against the Central Zone at the BCCI Centre of Excellence Ground B in Bengaluru. Although the display of power and finesse in the innings from the 23-year-old went in vain with his team West Zone failing to reach the final of the tournament against the Central Zone, who made the plunge by virtue of the first innings lead of 162 runs in a drawn contest.
Yashasvi Jaiswal’s swashbuckling innings, which ended on 64 runs in 70 balls, was laced with three fours and three sixes before he was dismissed by Harsh Dubey. After the fall of his wicket, the second innings of the West Zone started to disintegrate, staring at a defeat before Tanush Kotian and Tushar Deshpande batted out the last few overs of the fourth day, to close out the match with the scoreboard reading 216/8 in 53.3 overs.
Yashasvi Jaiswal missed out on India's Asia Cup 2025 squad
After the completion of his two innings in the Duleep Trophy 2025 semi-final, the First-Class stats for the left-hander reads 4,301 runs in just 44 matches at an average of 55.85 with 16 fifties and 15 hundreds. While Yashasvi Jaiswal is an integral part of India’s Test team after scoring 411 runs in five Tests against England in their own conditions during his first tour, he wasn’t picked in the main squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025.
The 23-year-old is part of the Indian standbys for the continental tournament alongside fellow Rajasthan Royals teammates Riyan Parag and Dhruv Jurel apart from Prasidh Krishna and Washington Sundar. Moreover, after taking their place in the final of Duleep Trophy 2025 at the expense of Yashasvi Jaiswal’s West Zone, Central Zone will take on South Zone in the final of the tournament, which will start in Bengaluru on Thursday, September 11.
For Yashasvi Jaiswal, his next international assignment could be the two-match home Test series against West Indies, starting on October 2.
