MS Dhoni set for return amid multiple changes, but injuries continue to disrupt Chennai’s campaign
The Chennai Super Kings seemed to be on the right track after three losses on the trot in the initial stage of the IPL. The major issues were regarding the form of their star players such as Sanju Samson and Noor Ahmad. But then they stepped up at the right time as Sanju scored a brilliant century to break the shackles and Noor Ahmad found his rhythm as well. They defeated the Delhi Capitals and the Kolkata Knight Riders to get a move on in the season. Ayush Mhatre and Sarfaraz Khan could be labelled as two of their most consistent batters in the season.
However, the injury scare does not look too good for the Chennai Super Kings. If Ayush Mhatre is ruled out of the season it would be as bad as anything that could happen to the side in the season. Khaleel Ahmed was also ruled out due to an injury and all these aren’t real promising signs. The replacements could be good but the impact that these players have in certain areas of the game cannot be matched.
The arrival of Spencer Johnson could be positive for the side as it adds a lot more fire to the pace attack. Anshul Kamboj is the man leading the pace attack and he would love to have Spencer bowl from the other end. Urvil Patel is an explosive batter and he showed what he could do in the previous season with some fine power-hitting. Akeal Hosein performed well with the chances he got and he will be back in the place of Matt Short. The return of MS Dhoni would impress the fans as they have been awaiting his return since the start of the IPL. He could possibly feature in the game against the Mumbai Indians.
In the next match, the Chennai Super Kings will take on the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium. They will be hopeful that they can get back to winning ways and put all the injury concerns behind their back. The Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side has some huge fixtures coming up and he will be hopeful that his side can bounce back in the season.
